The sun shone brightly upon the landscape, the golden beams warmly caressing the aureate stallion as he positioned himself within the battle realm. His regal skull was held aloft, and his deep brown eyes showed determination. Even though his opponent was to be female, Rotias would show her no mercy. By obtaining the position of Lead she had made herself open to a scenario such as this, and he would not go easy on her in any way. With power came responsibility, and if she could not handle it then she did not deserve to be a leader.
Snow white strands cascaded over muscular haunches as Rotias swished his tail idly. Brown eyes surveyed the tundra, wondering how long it would take before the mare realized that her home was in jeopardy. Rotias was not certain of the size of her herd, if indeed she had one, but should he be victor he would eagerly allow them all to remain. He had not chosen to battle Lilystar simply because of her sex. He wanted Green River Forest as his haven, his throne, and he would have performed these exact same steps to acquire it if its owner had been male.
Carbon fluttered from his nostrils as he exhaled on a sigh, his brawny frame easing into a relaxed posture as he waited, willing to give the mare whatever time she needed to summon her courage.

Lilystar was surprised she had been called to Red Cliffs. She trotted over to the stag, Rotias, and nodded her head. You know this battle is unnecessary right? You could join me in leadership. Not fight me for it. Her auds pinned forward, waiting on what he had to say. The fire within her was stirring, being readied for battle. She was not afraid, she didnt like fighting for unnecessary reasons. Her tail swished at a fly on her haunches. She was readying her muscles for the battle when she heard the stag speak.

Golden ears slipped forward as the sound of an approach reached him. Chocolate eyes shifted to settle lightly on the maiden as she presented herself in reply to his challenge. He hadn’t expected her to show, but he was glad that she had. Rotias wanted to win Green River Forest fair and square. It was such a pity that he would have to fight such a stunning female to do so.
His expression was tranquil as he listened to her speech, his brawny frame still relaxed and untroubled. What she said was true, he could share the top position is his chosen home, but that is not how he worked. He barely knew the maiden, and such partnerships never succeeded. The mare he chose as his equal would have earned the position, gaining his trust and affection. This dame had neither.
"Forgive me, but such a thing will never happen. It’s clear you’ve had very little experience when it comes to males and their ego." A cheeky smile touched his lips, his brown eyes sparkling playfully. Even in such a heated moment Rotias could not disguise his friendly nature, but the light hearted moment was short lived. His handsome features became serious once more. "I give you the option to step down, dear lady. Doing so will secure your safety, both now and in the future. I would not kick you from your home. If not, we shall fight." He gazed at her steadily, silently willing her to accept his offer. True, she would lose her position, but who was to say she couldn’t gain it again? No one ever knew what the future held.

Lilystars auds melted into her head to where they were visible no more. Her eyes flared with the fire beneath her. You expect me to give up just like that? Well you have another thing coming. It was a shame this stubborn stallion would not accept her offer, for he was a handsom one. She reared up, kicking her forelegs out. She let out a shrill cry of anger and glared at the stubborn brute.

"I was hoping." His voice was faint, his deep brown eyes shifting to contemplate the earth at his hooves. My, what a horrible predicament this was. The longer Ro stood there, the more he realized that he didn’t want to fight the maiden. It felt wrong, utterly wrong, in every way. What kind of bastard was he that he would even think to attack such an innocent, for no reason other than his desire to rule? His ego and his heart were at war within him, and already he knew which would win.
As the maiden reared before him Ro set his gaze on her, his features holding a genuine apology. "I cannot fight you." He said it simply, his voice empty of emotion. Perhaps she would laugh at him and think him weak. Or worse, she would assume she had scared him off. But neither was true. His soul was far too decent to commit such a crime. Ahh, if only Isabeau could see him now. He half wished she were there with him, for he knew that if anyone was to know his motives behind stepping down, it would’ve been her.
Flaxen strands danced across his golden rump as he flicked his tail sharply, needing an outlet for his agitation. At least this would be a test for the maiden. If she were a decent sort she would invite him to rule beside her. But if she were not… then who knew what she would do. Ro just stood there quietly, watching her from beneath the silky white veil of his forelock, half amused at the path his destiny had taken.

Lilystar stood there in shock. She relaxed and took a deep breath.
And I am glad, a wise decision. Would you like to take up my first offer? She had needed a lead stag and a mate. She was still in season but it was slowly but surely going away. She was very very glad Rotias had stopped himself from fighting her, for she was weak from the fight with Raven and the gash on her whithers.

Rotias allowed a tentative smile to curve upon his lips as he listened to her speak. It was good to know that his first assumptions had been correct. The maiden was a decent sort, and although Ro felt that his leadership was compromised by this arrangement, he knew that time would iron out all the details. Lilystar would see that he was born to rule and that, as a stallion, he would be at the top of the hierarchy. It did not matter that she had owned Green River Forest first, that was just how it worked in the world of the Unicorns.
"I would." He tilted his majestic golden head to the side, a silent thank you. His brown eyes roamed her features, traveling on to finally become aware of the trickle of crimson that stained her shoulder.
He frowned, the instinct to protect what he now considered his coming into play. "Who hurt you?" His voice was low and serious, his brown eyes hard as he questioned her. He wanted an answer, and when he had that answer he intended to begin his new reign by warding off all those that foolishly threatened his new herd, and his new maiden.
(I was thinking that Sky could join them here, and then all three could move to the thread with Raven in Green River Forest. Of course, seeing as Lilystar and Sky are already in the GRF thread I'd just pretend that Ro had walked there with them. What do you think?)

(Fine =D ) Lilystar looked at her shoulder and then looked back at Ro. Oh, its nothing really. Just got into a diagreement with another lead mare, Raven. She is a dark so she insists on fighting. the chestnut horse looked into Ro's serious brown eyes and saw a bit of concern. She was glad that although they had just met, he cared about her and their herd.

Rotias nodded his handsome head, letting his snow white locks sway before his vision. It was not unusual for the Dark’s to torment others, it seemed to be the only way they could feel good about themselves. Lilystar was strong though, despite her light alliance, and Ro knew that she would let no one push her around. Ro himself was different, not choosing to be categorized by any. His intricate nature could not be summed up by one word alone. Dark, Light, Neutral – they all played a part in him.
"She shan’t hurt you again." Ro’s voice was low and confident, and had this Raven wench been there she would have clearly heard his determination. Rotias intended to take his new position very seriously, and he would do everything within his mortal power to protect those within Green River Forest. Raven had definitely bitten off more than she could chew when she’d decided to harass his peaceful mares.
With a soft exhalation Ro cast aside his rampant thoughts, his vision softening as it settled on Lilystar. "Shall we go home?" A gentle smile was cast to her, his aureate legs moving into a slow stroll as he headed toward his new throne.

Yes, lets. She smiled at the handsom palomino unicorn. She walked beside him towards Green River Forest. Sky will be excited to hear you have joined me in leadership. She said quietly.
